+ouija ouija Posted March 4, 2013 #1 Share Posted March 4, 2013 (edited) INSPIRED BY LIFE The Muse 'Nostalgia' appears out of a backdrop of heartstring-tugging sunsets. She is half-hidden in a dark, hooded cloak. A shadow of her former self, an almost-petered-out echo of her dancing, sunny days, Although, a little soft rosy glow issues from her twilight heart. Misty days invoke her, too Accompanied by childish laughter and soft footfall on dew-soaked lawn. The light falls in a certain way and memories come creeping apologetically in. 'Natural Beauty' is another spur. Her eyebrows are permanently arched with surprised delight And her mouth constantly open with speechless glee at the endless treasures around her. Spider-webs covered in dew-drop jewels, Jealously protected by an eight-legged guard in striped and spiked livery. Shooting stars that sparkle so sharply they hurt the eyes, And yet have a life-span shorter than a Damsel-fly's. Poppies, resplendent in satin and velvet ball gowns, Ready to dance their brief lives away. My third Muse permeates all Nature Expressing: 'that-which-is-struggling-to-connect' My soul writhes and chafes in it's efforts to feel part of the World Soul, And not some seperate, isolated dust speck flicked from the eye of a god. All-permeating and yet impossible to pin down This Muse flutters a delicate wing at the corner of my eye; Flies behind me, leaving only the breath of a wing-beat against my neck-nape. I catch glimpses But fail to capture that Spirit on canvas, paper or with lens. Perhaps it is better not to try But to simply keep refreshing the connection Through eyes, ears and heart Until it grows familiar and strong. Last but not least, I am inspired by all the creatures Who choose to cover their nakedness with iridescent feathers, glossy fur, shimmering scales or a gleaming carapace. All the souls who leap, swoop, gallop or scuttle their way through life: No ark could be built big enough to contain them. Their diversity dazzles me; I want to capture it all, But no tapestry is long enough to contain their Life's Story. No lens is wide enough to contain the pounding of their Single Heart.
