Two Asteroids to Pass Near Earth on Saturday

MOSCOW, March 8 (RIA Novosti) – Two asteroids, one of them bigger in size than the celestial body that burst over Russia last month, will fly by the Earth on Saturday, though not as close as to threaten collision.

seems like there keeping an eye on the smaller ones now. I read one was the size of the Russian meteor. So good for astronomy. :tu:

They always have, nothing has changed, but the smaller objects remain difficult to see.

It is not possible to scan all of the sky all of the time, there are not enough telescopes world wide to do. Also you can't see those that come from the direction of the sun.

I wonder if there was anything they could do if a big one was going to hit us.

All these in such a short period. We being shot at? (Answer not necessary, I know the answer).

I saw an item where someone suggested painting half of an asteroid so as to cause solar radiation pressure to alter its orbit. It would seem that maybe a more efficient way would be to find some way to use solar wind.

Like Waspie said - nothing really...

Of course we could always perform the "Emergency Action Plan" put forward by the late great Wally Cox:

"When in danger,

Or in Doubt,

Run in circles,

Scream and shout."
