Mikko-kun Posted March 10, 2013 #3 Share Posted March 10, 2013 No. If you go into AA groups and alike, no. Look at those who try to project their own faults to others: zealots on all "sides", zealots with all kinds of pretenses... also those who succumb. You can help them walk, you can help them open their path, but you cannot open their path for them, nor walk their way for them. It's the same principle as with the thing that "you cannot run from yourself".
sards Posted March 10, 2013 Author #4 Share Posted March 10, 2013 Sounds like a cop out. It's like saying. " yes I will heal you but you must believe you are healed
Leah G. Posted March 10, 2013 #5 Share Posted March 10, 2013 Well, I've seen people think themselves sick and stress out to the point of sickness too. Not sure it could work in reverse though.
Mikko-kun Posted March 10, 2013 #6 Share Posted March 10, 2013 sards, if you think I'm wrong, by all means prove me wrong.. you can always try healing yourself all by yourself, or as much by yourself as possible. I dont think you need anyone else to heal you, even when it comes to loneliness. You should google "placebo effect".
sards Posted March 11, 2013 Author #7 Share Posted March 11, 2013 I really don't think I'm getting much help here. There seems to be a lot of tension between sceptics and believers here which clouds a lot of issues.

libstaK Posted March 11, 2013 #9 Share Posted March 11, 2013 I really don't think I'm getting much help here. There seems to be a lot of tension between sceptics and believers here which clouds a lot of issues. You are not being very specific. There are healing programs for personality faults throughout our society - AA being the most famous, but also rehabilitation for a host of addictions and personality disfunctions. Could a faith healer heal personality faults? I think in their realm they could "remove demons" or so they would say, the evidence would be subjective at best however ..... FlyingAngel Posted March 11, 2013 #10 Share Posted March 11, 2013 Yes if the healer is real.
sards Posted March 12, 2013 Author #11 Share Posted March 12, 2013 Yes if the healer is real. I imagine this is quite a specialised field ? My wife was told she could be a healer. Was encouraged to take classes. Now I realise the first thought is - yeah shes been conned. I got that.
sards Posted March 12, 2013 Author #12 Share Posted March 12, 2013 Oh yes...nothing to do with me . Was considering an alternative to some of the techniques used to deal with personalities that have become obsessive and a danger to society and whether this can be dealt with in a way that encourages normal behaviour. Just putting it out there.
