I remember that episode! It was right after he came back from an expedition. He was so excited!

Well, as excited as soft-spoken Bob was capable of...

"You need to read through this more than once to get a functional grasp of the dynamics of these behaviors. Once you have that grasp, then everything that happens around you will make more sense, and not shock you as much. You will be less likely to panic, or vomit, or defecate, etc., druing your first encounter." http://www.bfro.net/green_men.asp

(underlining, mine)

Participants in expeditions are told to read this hype and more before their first expedition. In fact, they are told to read suggested material more than once.

Hmmmm? Is this concern for the participants? Or, does this help ensure an "encounter" when one is already all hyped up about it prior to the event?

Marketing, sure. You can't sell what you don't market. But that doesn't excuse "fraudulent"...disgusting dishonesty/deceitfulness, imo.

Just because it may be impossible to prove fraud when it comes to some things bigfoot... How do you prove it wasn't bigfoot you smelled on the expedition? (unless someone somehow catches expedition sanctioned hoaxers in the act, if indeed there are any)

...only makes it an easy con to play on others, not less deceitful.

I really don't get everyone who says, "It's time to grow up." Why? What's so wrong about entertaining fun fantasies?

This is a good point and is close to the heart of the Joy of Bigfoot.

Except some make claims that your expedition will be in an area with (known, recent) bigfoot activity.

And they talk about their encounters and have their shills talk about their encounters on the last expedition. Even the ones who are careful not to promise anything sure hype up a high level of expectation. Otherwise, who would go?

Dishonest at best. Keeping one inch from using fraudulent language to promote isn't what I'd call ethical business practices.

At worst it is dishonest. At best it is Legend-Tripping! Just like calling on Bloody Mary or visiting the local haunted house. The thrill of danger is REAL - people have actually died whilst legend-tripping, you know (but not from Bigfoot or Bloody Mary or ghosts or...)

I first though about comparing it to ghost walks/tours, etc. But for me, it is just not the same.

Bigfoot is some real, natural, physical animal.

It is born, eats, breeds, and dies, like any other scientifically verified animal.

Expeditions, etc are like going bird-watching not going on a ghost tour. There is a totally different mindset expected of the participants created by hype mixed with quite a bit of "science" and "facts" and "experiences" etc. And a few scientist supporters as well.

(I'm not sure if I've explained it well)

So, for me the paranormal and bigfoot can be two complelely different things. And therefore, so too can the dishonesty/deceit/fraud factor.

One has to wonder how many years of nothing will it take of zero evidence that a large bipedal, breeding population of primates live throughout the world.

1951 a " Yeti " footprint was photographed. This ( arguably ) is a good starting date. ( no, Indians did not talk about Bigfoot, there stories are about supernatural things, different in different regions )......Anyway....

We have 62 years of claims, and not one solid piece of evidence......

Ugh, here I go again, same thing, different year......

Anyway, folklore will be around as long as we are. The Bigfoot thing, especially in this day and age is just insane. I have trouble thinking anyone that actually researchs things would even have any " belief " in it.

What's better than a documentary on finding bigfoot, but a documentary about the documentary on finding bigfoot.

They're Don Quixote and we're making Man of La Mancha. (Shawn on "Psych")

lol

Completely agree.

I wonder what percentage of "believers" or interested skeptics are really not about the truth anymore. They know better. But the interest continues, for various other reasons.

I agree, mines not at Sakari though.

As to the ignorant poster on the other page..yes migration time. When you and others who can back your research up have studied something for years day in day out, feel free to share then.

Sorry Ken!

Come on Sakari..... There are people who still believe in the Hollow Earth, and the Flat Earth, and Dragons, and Dinosaurs and men living together, and that Thor is a real god, and some that believe we've never been to the Moon. Believing in bigfoot, a shadowy ape that lives outside the cities were 99% of us live is really not so hard...

Just watch Jay Walking, or any of these Man-On-The-Street questioning shows. Almost everyone is apparently an uneducated idiot, the smart people either don't go out, or they are simply few and far between. There are hundreds of millions of internet users out there and only, what, a few hundreds that post here regularly... because most of those people online are watching movies, shopping, cruising Facebook or TMZ.com, or they are simply watching Porn. That is the bulk of todays computer users, simple folk, who are basically uninformed and don't really care that they are.

Bigfoot is going to go on FOREVER!!! Bwah, Ha, Ha......

If anything I feel sad now. I have deliberately cut out our guys.

As I was going to move I had to stop the active exchange with our guys as I didn't want them risking coming close to the house or to others. I don't think they would have when they realized I was gone but it wasn't something to risk. I've done every thing I can to protect these guys after I learnt the hard way not to trust others.

I then spent a year out of action with illness, so now if I go for a bush walk I will sometimes get signs like calls that they are still around but thought it best to leave it alone. It's about migration time here so the group should be moving on over winter.

It makes me angry that people go out there making money, the odds of having any contact in the first night out is massive it takes months or even longer of constant multiple visits before you may get lucky enough to start making contact.

As far as Joy in Bigfoot, I could certainly see the "joy" in interacting with these creatures, just like any animal. So, an honest question. Why do you think they do not interact with us, after all this time? What made me ask was the recent posted video of the guy who visited the gorilla he raised and then returned to the wild. Their connection seemed so different, imo, than say a human and a tiger or bear. I would think bf would desire a relationship with us, have a strong connection or strong desire to connect with humans. They don't get hunted and shot and so that is not something they'd worry about. No belief/nonbelief here, but what seems like a reasonable question to me. I'd like to hear an answer from someone who knows these animals. I would think they could relate to us and want to socialize with us, or at least allow us a lot more easily into their world than where we are currently, after all this time.

Ok, then educate me. When they migrate, do they use secret underground tunnels or fly in spaceships? Surely thousands of 9' tall 800 lb animals would leave some evidence of such a migration. Maybe they just teleport.

So, for me the paranormal and bigfoot can be two complelely different things. And therefore, so too can the dishonesty/deceit/fraud factor.

Ghost walks are consumer-friendly ghost-themed historical tours. Legend-trips are more spontaneous and personal in nature - like sneaking in to explore the local haunted cemetary at midnight or kids secretly performing the Bloody Mary ritual with their friends in defiance of parental warnings. Have you never done so? The ilicit or forbidden nature of the legend-performance is a key ingredient. Admittedly, legend-tripping is associated moreso with youth and rites of passage but there is nothing wrong with being young-at-heart (which is largely what the Joy of Bigfoot is about) - give it a go...

Of course Bigfoot and the paranormal could be two completely different things but they are not. That "researchers" talk-up the fictitious biological aspects is an essential part of the legend of Bigfoot and also then the legend-tripping experience of Bigfoot. If Bigfoot could be real and the things that go bump in the night are real then combining the two gives the Bigfoot experience. Add the social element - "Oh my god! What was that!?!" - and the experience can become electrifying! (I reckon it is also possible to actually induce Bigfoot sightings in such emotionally-charged and perceptually-ambiguous situations.)

The Bigfoot experience is more akin with an adult-version of the subjective legend-tripping experience - the illicit/forbidden aspects for adults include broader cultural disproval for such things ("Are you crazy?", "Grow up!") and the real genuine fears of being out in the wilderness (vehicle breaking down, animal predators, poionous spiders and snakes getting lost etc). In my experience it is surprising how such concerns by themselves can produce feelings of dread whilst alone in the wilds miles from anywhere. Imagine what adding the "reality" of Bigfoot can do when it is dark and there appears to be something large moving about nearby...

I'm not sure I understand what you are saying in relation to my thoughts on the two not being the same.

but we agree, I think, here:

Hmmmm? Is this concern for the participants? Or, does this help ensure an "encounter" when one is already all hyped up about it prior to the event?" me post# 27.

I contend that the two ARE the same - familiarising oneself with the relevant lore is a traditional preparation for the legend-tripping experience...

Did you know that Sasquatch can:

Read

Write

Shape-shift

Project Their Voice

Create Infrasound that affects the environment

De-materialize at will, or cause you to have an experience of lost time so you think they de-materialized.

Travel 300 miles a day on foot.

Live in well-lighted underground facilities

Contact and live with Star People

Tell us about our past and our future.

Have lived here longer than the human race.

Actually, I wrote her a few emails, and she responded. She sent me a DVD on ORBS, and she sent it for free.....Have to give her credit for that.

I'll agree to disagree then. :)

Expedition participants are prepped with modern-day recent "facts" and "science" and "habituations" not so much if any lore, legend or mystery. They are marketing a real animal. They have less and less room for the realm of the paranormal or something similar.
