Waspie_Dwarf Posted March 23, 2013 #1 Share Posted March 23, 2013 Is this the Bella in the wych elm? Unravelling the mystery of the skull found in a tree trunk The story starts as dusk fell on Hagley Woods in Worcestershire on 18 April 1943.Four young boys with a passion for bird nesting stumbled upon a heavily coppiced elm tree. Ealdwita Posted March 23, 2013 #2 Share Posted March 23, 2013 Ealdwita snippet..... Another mystery about Jakobs (although probably unrelated to the murder) was that out of 16 Nazi spies executed during WWII, he was the only one to be shot by firing squad in the Tower of London. (All the others were hanged in civil prisons.)

Regi Posted March 23, 2013 #4 Share Posted March 23, 2013 This story reminds me of the one of two young sisters who were climbing a tree and one fell through a hole in the trunk and then down to the base of the tree. Regi Posted March 23, 2013 #5 Share Posted March 23, 2013 It's occurred to me that it's odd that skeletal remains could have anything in the mouth because after decomposition, there's nothing to keep the jaw bone in place. The strangest aspect is that the body wasn't identified.
