Tarantula skin contaminated with asbestos

To most people, even the sight of the smallest of spiders can cause an irrational fear and terror.

But surveyor Katie Parsons-Young has good reason for being petrified after finding the skin of a large tarantula contaminated with asbestos in a darkened attic.

And an arachnid expert warned the beast that shed the skin could still be at large - and possibly twice the size.

People are all in a dither over this here!

The first articles mentioned that it was ''infected' with asbestos which seeemed kind of inaccurate if they are claiming it to be a threat to human health...

Some of the spiders living in our house seem to be as big as tarantula's, they seem to get bigger each year!!

Although very painful, tarantula bites are generally known to be no worse than a wasp sting, non the less this doesn't reduce the fear they instill in people.

Oh no, the poor, poor spider was contaminated with asbestos! This person should really have someone look into what their attic is insulated with...could be a hazzard to humans. As for the poor spider, tarantulas are generally lovely docile creatures (that make wonderful pets BTW). I hope they can find and help the spider, move it to a nice clean environment where it can have chance at a better life.

I would be more worried about being contaminated with asbestos than the spider.

Its seems the property was not occupied and was old which would account as to why there was still asbestos there. So in fact the spider was no threat to anyone, can not see why she was so petrified, she was only the surveyor and did not have to go back in there or move in to live.

For someone who doesn't like spiders I can well understand why she didn't stick around. No amount of "it can't hurt you" makes a scrap of difference either.

7 inches in diameter... In reality we aren't exactly looking at some freakishly huge beast here. People are acting as if we are dealing with some cat sized monster.

That's pretty much full grown for a chilean rose,They are really placid and known to be one of the best beginners spiders for this very reason.

Wow a 8 legged freak. I would be afraid of something that big too.
