MR.Blueprint Posted April 3, 2013 #1 Share Posted April 3, 2013 I think that ancient civilization built pyramids and othe structures. to impress other civilization that might come in contact with them.. and the fact our civilization is still impress by the pyramids means did they a good job ancient civilization too thought it maybe more life out their so their lives was dedicated and showing how advance their civilization are and we still do it to this day thats why we send satellites into space to show other civilization how advance we are pyramid= ancient satellites
DarkGaia Posted April 3, 2013 #2 Share Posted April 3, 2013 Wrong they built(some) pyramids to worship the sun and others were burials of human remains

kmt_sesh Posted April 3, 2013 #4 Share Posted April 3, 2013 There's no doubt that one reason to build pyramids was to impress—but to impress exactly whom is the question. In the case of civilizations like Egypt and the Maya pyramidal structures were a visceral and profound reminder to common people of the power of the state. That foreigners were likewise impressed by them would've been incidental, albeit a certainty. We are indeed impressed by pyramids to this day. How could we not be? But to understand exactly why they were built, one has to achieve a strong understanding of the civilizations which erected them.

docyabut2 Posted April 3, 2013 #6 Share Posted April 3, 2013 To me the pyramid was a evolutionary design out of africa, there are sites there of stones forms in a small heaps going into a point, and maybe the frist thought of the pyramid was in the frist drawing in stone http://www.historyofinformation.com/expanded.php?id=1621
monk 56 Posted April 3, 2013 #7 Share Posted April 3, 2013 Also a pyramid in architecture will last, as it falls in on itself on all sides, early builders did fathom this, it is strong against earthquakes, thus is a common shape around the world in ancient times!

desert palm tree Posted April 3, 2013 #9 Share Posted April 3, 2013 Why ancients built pyramids ? Not only Egyptologists but everyone including you famished to right answer. World wide starvation, particularily on this time. Who will be Joseph to feed , to sell the wheat for dying world ? PYRAMIDS ARE TEMPLES FOR SUN, GOD, OROMO, osiris, jesus. . . desert palm tree Posted April 3, 2013 #10 Share Posted April 3, 2013 Pyramids are symbols for tombs, underworld where Ra stayed, where Horus fights with Seth. A symbol of Egypt where Joseph sold, dead, buried and resurrected. Jesus, Oromo Joseph are the same , they are the king of Egypt, underworld, . . . No one comes to the Father , Divine Life without Jesus , Joseph, Oromo.
Aus Der Box Skeptisch Posted April 3, 2013 #11 Share Posted April 3, 2013 This is how it went down. A person was sitting in the sandbox (Giza) they picked up some sand while contemplating what they could build here. Meanwhile the person was letting the sand just fall from their hand whilst still deep in contemplation. some time after thought had eluded them and the sand had all fallen, the person stood to leave. Looking back where they had stood they noticed a pile of sand and although eureka was a foreign discriptive this person had a true eureka moment. And that was the story of why Egyptians built pyramids.... LOL

aquatus1 Posted April 3, 2013 #14 Share Posted April 3, 2013 But at the same time we have to acknowledge that these stupid ancients who new nothing compared to Us and believed in fairytale stories of Gods roaming in the sky and space and descending to Earth and giving them boons, like in a comic strip were still capable of great feats that we are still not able to replicate. Stupid? Have you seen the Temple complex of Karnak? The engineering and layout are absolutely fantastic. They are still studied by college architects today. The Ancient Egyptians were true innovators in the field of masonry engineering. True, it did take them a while to master pyramid building, but even with something as relatively simple as the Great Pyramids, we have to marvel at the amazing amount of logistical expertise that must have been required to organize a project like that. You would have to ask kmt_sesh about what, if any, gifts the Egyptians believed came from the gods, but as far as replicating feats goes, let's not get carried away. The pyramids are impressive, sure, but not as engineering marvels. A first year engineering student handing in plans for the pyramids would receive a failing grade for the lack of precision, redundancies, and lost labor in the construction. He might also get a mark off for the foundation it was built in, but in all fairness, the Ancient Egyptians would have no way to determine if the plateau they were on was riddled with pockets or not, whereas we have devices that can be hand-carried to the field to give us a picture of the ground below. We have lasers than can tell us the deviation of a 50-story skyscraper to within 2mm. A 2.5ton limestone block that would have required about 5 workers to move by sled can be moved around today by one guy with a pallet jack. If we start throwing in actual powered machinery, there is no contest at all. The feats of the ancients are remarkable because they had to overcome obstacles that we have millenia of science to help us on. It is on their shoulders that today's technology came to pass. One should respect their efforts and accomplishments, particularly considering the time they lived in, but don't sully their reputation by treating them like incompetents who would have been incapable of accomplishing their own great feats without some "god" giving them some "gift" to make it easy for them. The ancient Egyptians earned their reputation as master engineers through their own hard work, research, sweat, blood, and tears. They deserve all the credit they get. SHaYap Posted April 4, 2013 #19 Share Posted April 4, 2013 the ideas that made it all possible .... where did those ideas come from ? we know they know stones ... but ... this is the clinch here ... did they know the 'theoretical principles' ? what we call sacred geometry today ? the maths, the physics, the architectural engineering and dare I say it ... 'science' ? not 'science' as we know it, but a 'science' of their own ... maybe there is a bit in there that we know not about in our familiarity with our 'science' after all I don't believe that they just stacked and cut the stones to hopefully come up with something that measured 'right' and 'pleasing to the eye' I know for sure that many if not all agrees can we look at the achievements of the ancients without the bias opinions of our 'big smart brains' ? the ancients had brains as large and as smart, as smart as they need to be with the resources available to their needs. they left behind legacies spanning millenniums, with only their will and body and a brain as capable of intelligence as ours, most importantly they did it because they had ideas that didn't rely on 'machines'. Though we have machines to rely on today, I believe this knowledge that didn't rely on 'machines' but only on ourselves is worth a know, at the very least, even if its just out of curiosity. The_Spartan Posted April 4, 2013 #20 Share Posted April 4, 2013 thats why we send satellites into space to show other civilization how advance we are pyramid= ancient satellites We use Satellites for communications, reconnaisance, and for running the idiot box. Which civilization are we trying to impress? the civilization in the future?? The Satellites would be space junk by then and would have either burn out after decay of their orbits or the sensible folks in the future would have done some housekeeping by then. To impress them??? no way!! For showing the future civilizations how great we are, we build some silly stuff like the Burj Khalifa etc.

conspiracy buff Posted April 5, 2013 #23 Share Posted April 5, 2013 Pyramids are a mystery unto themselves, let alone who built them and why/how they did it. You have pyramids scattered all over planet Earth which are usually perfectly built and aligned to various astrological locations. Even by today's standards we cannot reproduce the accuracy or architecture of these amazing structures. As to the question of why ancient civilizations built these things, I cannot say for sure. There are plenty of theories as to why and how these pyramids were built and with help from alien beings to achieve their completion. It does seem unlikely that ancient cultures on Earth could have done things back then that we cannot replicate today. They lacked the tools and the knowledge to build them and any rational person would have to at least agree that it is unexplained. Most people will either believe it is happenstance or that there is a hidden and deeper meaning that we have yet to find to explain these spectacular anomalies. If mainstream science can accurately account for how these structures were built, I'd be willing to listen and understand it. Honestly, I don't believe mainstream science is open enough to the possibility of alternative explanations and we will probably never get an intelligent explanation for these magnificent pyramids and why they are here. They lacked the tools and the knowledge to build them and any rational person would have to at least agree that it is unexplained. If mainstream science can accurately account for how these structures were built, I'd be willing to listen and understand it. I don’t know whether pyramids have any orientations to constellations (the Orion belt orientation is something that’s bandied around, but requires evidence to back it, not efforts by people to modify the evidence to suit the facts). I don’t know whether pyramids elsewhere have any orientations to constellations. By today's standards we can build with precision, structures that are larger than the pyramids. But, would the exercise be productive? What will we get by building a structure like a pyramid? Does it add value to the existing infrastructure? Does man gain anything other than wasted hours in building them? The Ancient Egyptians didn’t lack tools or the know how to build the pyramids. The ancient Egyptians left behind enough evidences on how the stones were quarried and moved. Also, there are still quarries where you can find blocks what were cut, but never transported to the construction sites. There are workers’ villages that once were home to the thousands of workers who built the pyramids. We have records maintained by supervisors about the work involved , inventory etc. Science is an ever learning discipline, what we don’t know now, we will learn tomorrow. As of today, we do have an average understanding on the construction methods of the great pyramids. Some here, would go behind some whacky aliens ran geyser power to construct pyramids, some would go on to say they were water harvesting structures, some would say they were satellites (like the OP), some would say they are power plants. But there are evidences to show that the pyramids were meant as tombs for the Pharaohs.
