Saru Posted April 16, 2013 #1 Share Posted April 16, 2013 Further signs of dark matter have been observed at a subterranean laboratory in northern Minnesota. Hints of dark matter, the mysterious stuff that makes up perhaps 85 percent of the matter in the universe, may have been observed by scientists. Read more... Waspie_Dwarf Posted April 16, 2013 #2 Share Posted April 16, 2013 Dark matter experiment CDMS sees three tentative clues Researchers have revealed the first potential hints of the elusive material called dark matter at an underground laboratory in the US.Though it is believed to make up a quarter of our Universe, dark matter - true to its name - has never been seen. Scientists at the American Physical Society meeting showed three promising clues to it from the CDMS experiment. However, they stressed the preliminary nature of the results and that more data are needed to confirm it. Read more...

Rolci Posted April 17, 2013 #4 Share Posted April 17, 2013 Guessing from the history of physics so far, the results will probably go unexplained, and just when we think we got it, it will turn out it had nothing to do with dark matter. In the meantime dark matter and energy get all sorted out, and when we re-investigate what caused these results then, it will lead us into even more exotic and mind-boggling stuff that turns everything upside down again. A question answered, two new ones to start looking for answers for.
