Vitrification ! And UFO's of course

hehehe just stumbled across a page which a certain poster here.... who has been quiet a while would get excited about, its about vitrified rocks and holes. Ring a bell anyone?... and who knows maybe this will entice him back with a "see, I told you so" :w00t:

"VITRIFIED "STONES," ANOMALOUS HOLES & UFO ACTIVITY IN POLAND"

Mrs. Kuss reports that it was about 2:00am early one morning in July (or perhaps early August) of 1998 and she was unable to fall asleep: "I don't know why, but I couldn't. And suddenly my room became all red...the whole room became red, because there was something glowing outside the window. I saw this object in the sky. It had the shape of an ellipse and [it] glowed in red, a very intense red...And it was very slowly lowering itself onto the field. The glow from this thing was enormous. The whole object was emitting such light that it reminded me of a bright ball, but with a distinctive shape inside the glow. And it was going down very, very slowly."

At first Mrs.Kuss thought what she was seeing was a meteorite, but realized this couldn't be because the object was descending so slowly. She states that sometimes it even "stopped" for awhile, and would then continue its descent.

The fiery object, which was approximately 150 meters in front of her windows, appeared to be only 3-4 meters across.

I think the 'rock' shown at the beginning of the link might be Industrial Slag.....

I found a piece similar to this many years ago on a canal tow-path and someone identified it for me...

some examples of industrial slag..

I don't think anyone actually suggested that UFOs caused vitrification at ancient sites...??

But I also found a link showing lightening striking such forts,,see plasma bursts and lightening strikes on page 6 here.....maybe its not so, but its plausible...on ancient landscapes mans buildings were the highest feature, apart from trees that is

lightening's definitely one way of doing it (space aliens being another! :-D).

there's a video on yoochoob of the late, great, Arthur C. Clark attempting to vitrify a small section of wall with very little success. they ended running out of wood, so all the local villagers started turning up with tables and wardrobes 'n stuff!

he postulated that there wouldn't have been enough trees in scotland to make ONE vitrified fort, but scotland has SIXTY!!

ET was very busy indeed!

very lucky indeed bee!

where I live, the place is littered with stone circles, prehistoric rock art, cairns, standing stones, burial mounds, and there's certainly no shortage of interesting places to go camping on summer weekends!

nice...I was camping in Wiltshire last weekend and spent a happy afternoon at West Kennet Longbarrow...Silbury Hill...Swallowhead Spring..

There's not much along those lines in the Midlands, where I live, though...so you are indeed lucky to have all those places on your doorstep...

I hope you called in for a few dustbusters at the red lion in avebury while you were there....?

love west kennett long barrow, and always go to the stonehenge festival a day early just so I can stay there overnight!

it has some excellent acoustics when there's some drums and a didge going!

a couple of years ago a group of 6-7 people turned up and started humming!! they were making some really weird noises, like human didgeridoos, and it gave the place a really eerie atmosphere!

I didn't join in though.....
