Still Waters Posted April 26, 2013 #1 Share Posted April 26, 2013 Memory can be improved simply by clenching the fists, a study suggests. Clenching the right hand for 90 seconds helps in memory formation, while the same movement in the left improves memory recall, say US psychologists. http://www.bbc.co.uk...health-22270716

The motor/coordination cells in your brain rewire themselves into your memory circuits allowing you to hop between legs better. It takes about two weeks to see gains but leads to an increased ability to remember. If you try remembering numbers at the start you'll find you can only remember about six. Afterwards you'll be able to remember 15+ Edited April 27, 2013 by Giant Killer B

JonK Posted April 29, 2013 #14 Share Posted April 29, 2013 i've just happened to begin clinching my fists (to make my wrists stronger) about 1 or 2 weeks ago from now.
Frank Merton Posted April 29, 2013 #15 Share Posted April 29, 2013 The Vietnamese theory of learning is lots and lots of rote memorization. We get good at it, and I can remember paragraphs of stuff I memorized in my teens, but which in the present political system I should try to forget. It's a debate: the ability to quickly memorize large amounts of stuff is sometimes but not very often useful, and almost none of the stuff I memorized is useful at all, except of course the times tables, oh, and that the capital of Brazil is Rio de Janerio, but then they changed that, didn't they? FlyingAngel Posted June 5, 2013 #16 Share Posted June 5, 2013 It's the power of suggestion. People who clench fist memorize faster because they are told clenching fist would make it better. It's like telling a patient to take a pill so he will recover faster when it's actually just a placebo pill-like piece of sugar
