I doubt that any sane person, including Obama, is a "socialist" today, and he certainly is not a Muslim (he has performed far too many rituals that would be blasphemous for a Muslim to perform).

"Socialism" to me implies belief in government ownership and management of all production and all delivery of services. That markets will inevitably develop is now understood by even the most adamant socialist philosophers, and it is understood since you will have them regardless you may as well try to maximize their utility and minimize their harms.

That Obama has what in the States is called "left-wing" tendencies should not surprise anyone -- he is a Democrat.
