Can we call a truce? (poem)

You have gone too far in this war

no one even has guns here

your flag is out for all to see

my dear veteran

it is no longer 1963

They are not coming to get you

the sun remains the same hue

sunspots will not destroy society

the day still welcomes you

it will never be 1984 again here

Before the Wall fell

we sang songs about it all

even sent you smuggled messages

did you get any of them?

people are more than bricks

Looking for something

besides propaganda

beyond the Cold War

always knew someone

on the other side

felt just like me

a better tomorrow

is born inside of us

a new world is here

we choose order over chaos

Knowing that yin still needs yang

the eternal romance continues...

dedicated to the old man who would sit on his porch under the flag

and to Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck (thank you for making The Lives of Others)
