Of course the most obvious way to de-escalate is for Syria to STOP handing weapons over the the hezzies. Short of that, I imagine the area around the Lebanese border is about to get really inhospitable

the next day, Wednesday, a senior Israeli official threatens Syria.

Appears to me Putin told Netanyahu something in secret... something

other than we've been told.

The ironic thing is... the deletions of my two Putin posts here

only served to reinforce my speculation that something much bigger

than expected is coming down.

I've never seen anything as convoluted or sinister as that in my time here, but anything is possible I guess. As to Israelis being "proud" of the actions of their leaders - some are and some not I'd guess. If Israel's choice is to stand by and watch anti aircraft missiles that can kill their pilots over Lebanon, Syria or even Israel OR stop them from being handed to those who want to use them against Israel...not much of a choice. Israel has shown restraint in dealing with Assad. Truth is they probably would prefer to keep the devil they know rather than the Muslim Brotherhood Al Qaeda mongrel that is coming. In either case it is going to be bad for the region and REALLY BAD for Assad if Israel gets attacked as a result of destroying these weapons shipments.
