I think Obama will do whatever is the most politically popular thing to do. If that means socializing free markets or defending Israel, I think he'll do either one. There's so many ways to defend Israel besides invading its enemies for it. Obama just gave the largest arms contract in US history away to Saudi Arabia. Israel is not attacking Syria - they are attacking specific locations where weapons are stored or are being transported to the Hezballah types in Lebanon. They cannot let those weapons get to Hezballah.
