Zoologist returns to Oroville for talk on Bigfoot

A zoologist who has studied Bigfoot claims for decades will return to Oroville this week as the featured guest of the Summer Speaker series at the Lake Oroville Visitor Center.

Ron Brown, who has a doctorate in zoology, will present "Bigfoot: The Legend Analyzed" at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Visitor Center theater.

...

Brown wrote his first paper on Bigfoot in 1972 at UC Berkeley, according to a State Parks press release.

...

Besides the paper written in 1972, Brown authored a non-scientific critique on the 1967 Roger Patterson film about Bigfoot and has been a contributing author in books on the subject, according to the release.

Brown has also participated in numerous field studies and investigations.

Ron Brown, who has a doctorate in zoology...

"Dr" Ron Brown's qualifications have been called into question - sometimes he is described (or describes himself) as a PhD, other times as an MD, and sometimes as both. No indication of where and when he received his education.

Meldrum's (2007) Sasquatch: Legend Meets Science describe him as "….Dr. Ron Brown, M.D., African game guide…" and a bit later as "Dr. Ron Brown, exotic animal handler and health care administrator".

The earliest connection of "Dr" Brown with Bigfoot seems to be in connection with the infamous Skookum cast in 2000 where he is described as an "exotic animal handler and health care administrator".

Brown's suspect qualifications seem only to surface in relation to Bigfoot. His own professional bio indicates nothing about his education (let alone his PhD) and in a 2009 interview about healthcare practices in nursing homes Brown does not claim to be an MD even though doing so in this instance would be appropriate.

They have. You simply choose not to believe them.

I've seen so much of this nonsense about "it could have never been done back then" and "no human could walk that way" and lo and behold some Discovery channel crew up and does it. Frankly there's way to much of this "there's no way XXX could do XXX" jumping to conclusion stuff in the paranormal.

As for the tits, the late 60s were still a very misogynistic time (ever watch Mad Men?) and, frankly, making the suit a female with visible breasts makes the whole thing even more titillating (ahem).

And regardless of how you feel about PG, the fact remains that after almost 50 years it's still the "best" video evidence of a bigfoot. Odd when you consider that in that time we've gone from a society where almost no one had a video camera to the vast majority of us having one in our pocket every waking second. We also have thousands of believers out looking for thing every single weekend of the year. And let's not forget trail cameras.

That's the one problem that I have with this Bigfoot stuff. With everybody and their mother carrying cell phones that take pictures AND video why is there no good, convincing videos and pictures?
