Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's a Superman comic worth more than $100,000!

David Gonzalez is celebrating after finding the "Holy Grail" of comic books stuffed inside the walls of a house he was renovating.

The father-of-four put the rare edition up for auction and it has so far attracted bids of more than 10 times the value of the Minnesota house he bought for $10,100.

Gonzalez, 35, was ripping out insulation from the garage of the house when he discovered a copy of Action Comics No 1 from 1938 mixed with old newspapers.

He did some research and consulted an expert who confirmed the comic, which originally sold for 10 cents, was potentially valuable.

But he lost money on the windfall after the back cover of the comic got ripped during a discussion with a relative about its value.
