As for the article ,this is from a few days ago . We debunked it as a bird strike . It's a bit odd,but other bird strikes dent in a similar fashion .

and for those who cant watch vids, heres the news story with pics. Considering the Chinese are going into mass drone production and testing, thats where my money is.

thinking about it more, they are so bloody lucky it didn't hit the windscreen... imagine the pilots being sucked out the windows and the plane heading for certain disaster?

A bird strike at 26k feet? Do birds fly that high?

Firstly: this is not a Bird Strike. There is no correlation between the (admittedly limited) photos of the damage and any recorded damage from a Bird Strike.

My guess (and I am NOT on the Air Accident Team for this) is that the damage was caused by a solid impact with high mass and density (possibly 5/6 Kilograms). No indication from the report that the object was in motion which would allow for a higher mass / density composition.

A solitary goose flying at this altitude is highly unlikely as they trend towards "formation" flying, and would certainly leave blood trails after impact.

So we have a mystery, that due to lack of data cannot be discerned here

Not sure if we will ever have an answer to this event. I rather doubt the government will be forthcoming in regard to a drone striking a civilian aircraft. Thankfully, no one was injured.

Except the picture does not show a LUNA Drone!!

well you need to hold the Times responsible for that then! So what do you say it shows?

Now here we have a damaged come from HAIL

and then at 12,000 feet, the next image was a bird impact. I expect it was a frozen turkey or something :w00t:

Now this next one was a lightening damaged

And the best story till last is... ANOTHER MYSTERY THING CAUSED A DENT!!

Blurb: "Federal and airline officials are still trying to figure out what crumpled the nose cone of a Northwest Airlines Boeing 757 that landed safely Sunday in Tampa, Fla. One early theory has been ruled out: that the plane struck a bird.

"At 18,000 feet, a bird would have to be wearing an oxygen mask," said Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Elizabeth Isham Cory in Chicago. Other possible causes include metal fatigue or a design failure, she said.

The pilots reported hearing a bang and losing the radar in the aircraft's nose when the Detroit-to-Tampa flight was approaching Tampa's airport at 18,000 feet. But the cause remains unknown, and officials said the investigation could last several weeks.

idk, I've been in a 737 that hit a goose. It was the biggest, bloodiest mess I've ever witnessed and I hope to never see again. We didnt need to make any kind of emergency landing for that. Has anyone thought about the long range missile testing the Chinese have been attempting lately? I know that sounds crazy but who knows?

Read the article....At least the first 3 sentences....Don't be so lazy and ignorant.

The picture is FROM THE DRONE of the plane it almost hit......Of course you do not see it, the camera is on it.....

can-t-read-good-t-shirt-snorgtees.gif

It is humor smile......But the camera is on the drone, and in the article.

Was my keyboard that I went out and threw in the air after reading a topic here.......
