America to hold talks with Taliban.

The taliban have expressed a desire to enter talks with the US and aim for a diplomatic solution to war in Afghanistan, Reuters stated today-

although no nearby cease to hostilities has been forecast, the Taliban opened up an office in neighbouring Qatar with a view to opening up dialogue with America.

the main bone of contention will be severing the Taliban's ties with Al Qaeda, and an end to the Afghan's harbouring of terrorist groups.

Although the Taliban have stated that a withdrawal of foreign troops is of the utmost importance, the US & NATO seek to maintain a force in the country.

The two sides are hoping to work together on such issues as women's rights in Afghanistan, and the release of detainees from Guantanamo Bay.

While both sides have warned that peace is a long way off, they both agree that this is a step in the right direction.
