What if aliens hate our religions

Curiously, no one seems to touch this subject.

I bet a truck full of combo pizza that there's no way aliens have favorable view on our religions. (or should I bet my left testicle? It's a Korean expression.) Look what happened to Aztecs. Although native religions in South America survived and somewhat integrated with Catholicism, I fear that aliens would do their best to wipe out our faiths.

Maybe few people want to discuss because this is such a bleak subject. I won't be surprised to see if people are very afraid of think of such possibility that fanatically atheist aliens will slaughter religious people on Earth.

I don't think they would care one way or the other what our religious preference is....now whether some people would change there religion based on the fact that aliens are proven to exist is another thing

If they are a superior created order of beings, they may want to open our sense of wonder wider--but I can't see them caring, along with R4 above, whether we believe in the Trinity, the Holy Greased Heavenly Thrust Pole, or the Bug-Eyed Spaghetti Monster.

But please be honest, "Ron." If you are hijacking the Hedgehog's visage and name, that's not cool. Even some porn actors have brains.

They might well kill anyone who resisted them IF they were bent on domination. But I can't imagine them making a difference between the various faiths.

Let them hate.

Not to play the "woe is me, I'm villified for my faith" card, but there are more then enough humans who hate me simply because of what I believe. Don't care what they think, why'd I care what aliens think?

I think perhaps these aliens would be amused by our different faiths and scoff at our gullibility. On the other hand, they may have their own religion, and being superior aliens from outer space, their religion may gradually supersede ours. Except for the various human fanatics who may in due course become martyrs to their religions. This would depend upon the indulgence of the aliens.

What aliens are we talking about here?

The only aliens I know about are immigrants. Maybe they hate "our" religions! :o

I've not doubt that if there is intelligent life out there in the Universe, Aliens have their own beliefs and views of the world.

Unless they understand things about the creation and have proofs of it that we do not comprehend, then their religions should not be put above or below any other here on Earth. As for religious intolerance, do we not see that already here? Absolutely.

But however far more advanced technologically and scientifically they may be if they reach the Earth, it is important that we do not made them gods to our primitive eyes.

I would welcome it. It is the greatest service a species could be rendered.

They would almost certainly have effective de-programming methods that would make that unnecessary.

I think a distinction needs to be made between specific religions with their particular associated rituals, and spirituality, which I think is likely universal.

I think we have a much better chance of connecting with aliens on common spiritual ground than with any particular religion.

The same goes for humanity itself as well. :)

haters gonna hate.....

as unlikely as the whole scenario seems to be, i see 2 possible ways how they'd look on religions: either they treat the Religious like missionaries treated the so-called "primitive non-believers" wherever "new lands" were discovered (force-converting them to their own belief and ridiculing the Natives' own culture), or they don't give a warpspeed-flying ****. That would then probably spawn even more religions.....

We'll never know what the aliens hate or love until they get down here. Otherwise, it's another issue of not knowing or ever knowing.

Just because it's an alien, isn't going to make me change my spiritual viewpoints or feel less because of them. I'm sure that aliens have their own ways of believing or not believing in what ever same as us.

Though if they have the Borg mentality, we'd all be end up praying!

Kind Regards ;)

As rampantly stupid as people are, they'd probably claim they are our creators and it is they, and they only, that we should worship.

Then they'll try and install their version of a healthcare system.

Ahh, but then it would be interstellar health care which sounds much better;) I wonder if they would tax us for the privilege?

That would mean a big discount for group rates.

actually that will cause another nightmare scenario. Republicans will go insane and launch nukes against aliens.

How do we know we that the aliens might be the reason for religion.

I think that any possible intelligent aliens out there will have moved beyond old superstition and religion. The fact that half our world is religious has to be telling them something about us. Like our view on Amazon indian tribes who pray for days and sacrifice their young to make it rain.

Primitive cave dwellers,... lets wait another millennia and see what happens.

Its not like others would kill or slaughter human for there religions acts or etc that mankind has picked for other reasons what’s best for them. It’s the understanding point many others don’t get about the religions on earth. Other planets don’t have set up like how earth runs, as is you should not bet your testicle some things in Korean expression can be bit odd in some cases.

Why would Aliens have any particular opinion on our religions? I doubt whether they'd be so altruistic as to wish to liberate us from the oppression of superstition, or be particularly bothered one way or the other. We only bother about imposing "freedom" people if there's something we can get in return, after all, like a monopoly on oil resources or strategic bases in the area.

I'm sure that even an advanced alien race would have questions on creation and life after death.. just cause they're smarter/advanced doesn't mean they're all knowing..

Cheers..
