Royal baby: 'lucky' silver coins to be minted

Recommended Posts

Babies born on the same day as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s first child will receive a free 'lucky' silver penny to mark the occasion, the Royal Mint has announced.

The penny, supplied by the makers of the nation's currency, has been marked with the year 2013 to commemorate the babies’ year of birth and will be presented in a pink or blue pouch.

It features a shield of the Royal Arms with the three lions, the Scottish lion rampant and the harp of Ireland.

You know, what I reckon is that this Royal Baby was arranged by David cameron to distract attention from the failure of his policies. That man's machiavellian deviousness is truly unsurpassed.

I think the coins are a nice idea.

2,013 to be given to those born on that day. As as of April 2012, almost 2000 babies are born every day in the UK. We have not got this years figures yet, but will be interesting how many do not get a coin because enough were not made!
