Still Waters Posted July 8, 2013 #1 Share Posted July 8, 2013 Since the 1930s, car makers have experimented with a host of features to give their models a unique selling point. Yet some were so weird, and in some cases, dangerous that they never really took off. This included glovebox minibars that kept tumblers in place using magnets, a steering wheel with a spike that could impale the driver, record players built into the dashboard and a sack that carried dogs alongside the vehicle. http://www.dailymail...-fresh-air.html
Space Commander Travis Posted July 8, 2013 #2 Share Posted July 8, 2013 Were all these necessarily potty or loony? Surely built-in minibars are commonplace in limos (though not for the driver, obviously)? And what's the record player built into the dashboard if not a forerunner of the CD Player? Light-sensitive headlights, too, are offered in upmarket models now, too, I believe. As with a lot of these "potty and loony" ideas, a lot of them were just before their time, before the technology had been developed for them to be really practical. BiffSplitkins Posted July 9, 2013 #3 Share Posted July 9, 2013 I think the absolute worst automobile invention ever is Truck-Nutz.
