Still Waters Posted July 19, 2013 #1 Share Posted July 19, 2013 A company in Australia has developed a range of wetsuits which they say renders the wearer nearly invisible or repulsive to sharks. It is hoped the suits will help prevent attacks on divers, surfers and even swimmers who wear them in coastal areas that are shark infested. They incorporate patented Shark Attack Mitigation System technology (SAMS) which is tuned to disrupt the senses of the killer fish. http://news.sky.com/...ttacking-sharks
Odds Posted July 19, 2013 #2 Share Posted July 19, 2013 It's about time really, so good for them. Having an all black wetsuit, making you look like their natural prey it a bit more than counter productive. But even in saying that, i doubt it will catch on too much, most surfers don't worry much about sharks.
NatureBoff Posted July 20, 2013 #3 Share Posted July 20, 2013 Yes, well over due. I liked the mention of South Sea islanders who painted themselves with stripes to prevent shark attacks. Another case of modern society being 'less advanced' than they like to think imv.
Gunn Posted July 20, 2013 #4 Share Posted July 20, 2013 Wonder how much they cost? Bet a arm and leg. Regardless, beats the shark getting your arm and leg.
