Still Waters Posted July 20, 2013 #1 Share Posted July 20, 2013 It took 69 years, but at last we've seen the pitch drop. One of the world's longest-running experiments climaxed last week, when a finger-sized bulb of pitch (bitumen) separated from its parent bulk and dropped into a beaker. For the first time ever, this fleeting event has been recorded on video. http://www.newscient...ml#.Uep8UaxUwdV
keithisco Posted July 20, 2013 #2 Share Posted July 20, 2013 No doubt interesting (although the video would not play) but, just what does this tell us? Is there some important discovery to be made here? Not being a "Pitch - drop" scientist, and completely ignorant of this field of endeavour, could somebody enlighten me of the importance therein? Thanks
