I've known about this tradition for sometime. Purely practical though not for the faint of heart to see. It just shows you our real place in the natural scheme of things.

To us it may seem callous and heartless but in mountainous regions they have no plots of land for burials or even cremation so...dismembering the body is the best solution though I'd find it hard to watch a friend or family member being chopped up for vulture chow.

In the end we are all eventually food for something else be it the vultures or the lowly grass and mushrooms.
