If a poptart can get you suspended, I'm surprised plastic didn't get her arrested.

This has happened to me in the 80s. My grandma put a toy gun in my hand luggage, and I was not aware of that. Of course it was confiscated, since it is hard to tell the difference when waved around, especially when it's dark. The agent was keen enough to explain it to me, and I understood. I was more confused why my grand mother thought it would be a good idea to put it in my bag.

Was he supposed to play with them on the aero plane? I hope not, as they are not really made for a cramped environment. Maybe they did not check in any luggage, and only had hand luggage. Either way, it does not belong in your hand luggage.

I very much like her idea that confiscated toys could be donated, instead of destroyed. But she is still trying to blame others for her own mistake.

Why not just insist that the plastic toys be put into regular luggage and baggage checked? After all, these things aren't really weapons, they aren't dangerous in the least. I can see why they shouldn't be in carry on bags, they aren't toys that should be played with in flight. But, this is our insane response...freak out over 'pop tarts' and Ninja Turtle stuff. The real terrorists must be laughing their butts off at us.

They could also have a "not for inflight" bin aka: hand it in to flight attendants who then lock it all up safely and hand it back out when passengers exit at the other end.

Naturally this would only apply to goods that are known to pose no inherent threat such as plastic toys or manicure sets that have been passed as containing no possible poisons or bombs etc.

Anything can be used as a weapon, even a rolled up newspaper, (which works).

Fingernails, fingers, hands, feet, eyeglass frames, eyeglass lenses, wristwatches, pens. . .where does it end?

Bin Laden is dead, but I feel less free now than ever. How does that work?

Well..there you have it, folks. Theft and confiscation is totally legal when it is done by people wearing badges.

There was no crime committed at all yet a childs prized toy has been stolen by adults, the same ones who tell him that taking things from others is wrong, and he will never see it again.

This incident could have been handled so much better.

Bin Ladin, Bin Shmadin. He was just one of thousands of jihadist clerics; albeit a particular charismatic one.

It is ridiculous to believe that his death changed anything.

But instead of addressing the reality and doing some smart profiling of who might be a potential terrorist on a mission from god, we harrass little children and confiscate their plastic toy guns.

The lunatics are running Brittanistan and the rest of Europe.

Makes me laugh this article, not only do the airport clearly state that anything looking like a imitation weapon (toy or not) is not allowed on the plane, and they even offer to let the person return it to their car, or have it posted home for them.

Nope, not good enough for this woman, she expects the rules to be changed to accommodate her wishes! Well tough, when booking her tickets she should have had someone with her who can actually read simple rules, and if that isn't good enough for her then drive there or get the boat......I've got no sympathy for her at all.
