Happy Birthday, Curiosity!

On August 5, 2012 (PDT), NASA's Curiosity rover touched down on the Red Planet. Aboard was the Sample Analysis at Mars instrument, or SAM, the most sophisticated chemistry lab ever sent to another planet. Now, on the first anniversary of the landing, engineers at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center are using SAM to "sing" Happy Birthday to Curiosity.

ShadowSot,

It would be nice if you would put a description with your links, then I would have known it was the Seven Minutes of Terror video which is has already been posted numerous times.

Blarg, I accidentally deleted the description when I posted the link, my apologies.

I just figured a birthday thread for Curioisty would be amiss without the seven minutes of terror. I still get a rush from seeing the video.

I think it would have been fun if the rover was outfitted with a speaker.

"Hello, is anyone out there?"

"Happy birthday(anniversary) to me, happy birthday to me..."

And then with a NASA/JPL public participation program that would have selected voice messages blasted across the terrain, as time permits.

EDIT: Of course no-one would hear it on Mars, but it would be fun anyway.
