Because all that BS about their alleged Merovingian ancestry and "House of Graal heirs". People just do everything they can to make some grand link between themselves and people of the past to rationalise their delusions. No one has proved anything definitively, yet the claims are accepted as infallible.

Magdalena Struska de Merowing and Andrzej Struski de Merowing found the place where the tomb of Magdalene and Christ is situated because only they had a full right to this discovery.

In the book entitled: “The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail” M. Baigent R. Leigh H. Lincoln 1982 wrote about a distinctive birthmark which the Merovingians had - a red cross which was situated either on the breast or between the shoulders. You can clearly see the birthmark which Andrzej Struski de Merowing has between his shoulders on the photo:

What's the evidence that mark is a birthmark and not, say, a tattoo or a branding?

I don't know if the birthmark is mentioned in other sources; you can find it by yourself if you are interested in it. If you think the birthmark is not real you can arrange the meeting with Andrzej Struski de Merowing i.e. through His facebook page and check it by yourself.
