New immunity-boosting drug

The new drug works by increasing the ability of the immune system to recognise and attack tumours.

Really cool, but I wonder: if it reactivates and increase the immune cells making them more aggressive, could it lead as a side effect to an increase of autoimmune diseases?

I suppose an increase in autoimmune diseases is possible, and that is something to investigate. But having had a sister die from cancer, this is like a burst of sunshine.

If this proves to be successful for treating these types of cancers it will be added to the "chemo" part of chemo therapy as part of the variety of treatments used for the different types of cancer. It is very difficult to get your body to attack its own cwlls without giving further complications.

Ah geeze, this enthusiastic press release is based off of a sample size of 26 patients? I understand they need the press drive to get the grant money but that's tiny...
