Obama mask on a rodeo clown..................

That's quite a stretch. Like saying the indigestion I get from eating corn dogs at my state fair is state sponsored torture.

Oh, and the fair in my area is a "National" fair, which in no way has anything to do with the federal or national government. Just means it travels to other states and not just one. And our "National" fair gets no federal OR state funding. It gets funding from the county it's held in.

MM, it was the Missouri State Fair. Missouri state tax dollars. Mockery of a sitting president with taxpayer money.

The Oklahoma State fair is a private organization, in which the State participates (ads, a few displays, etc)... pretty sure almost all (if not all) States have the same arraingment...

The Entertainments are totally seperate from the Fair Organization... Much like an auditorium having a rock concert - they don't own the band...

Irony, R-Man? I'm not sure what you may mean mean by this. The irony with which I infuse much of my writing on political subjects is the obvious: People mocking, denigrating and demonizing our "Kenyan-Muslim Socialist Communist Fascist" current president while giving a pass to the Butcher of Baghdad and Avoider of Bin Laden who sold our economy to the bankers and defense industries before leaving office.

Dude, untwist your panties. You libs are insane with reverting to Bush every time Obama is dissed. Bush got plenty and plenty and plenty and plenty of ridicule during his time. He hardly got a pass on anything. Not by a long shot. Today, we have a different president to go on about. With your logic, why stop at Bush? I'm mad because people don't btch about Grover Cleveland but I don't bring it up every time a president I like is made fun of. Goodness.

If this is where you place outrage on appropriating tax money then wow. There are far more serious things to think about. Besides, this isn't a communist or dictator nation. The president can be mocked all day long by anybody anywhere at anytime. On top of all that, where there any boos coming from the tax payers in the crowd? The only boos come from the fun police like you Officer Buzzkill.

I think he was refering to his avatar being a clown picture...

Probably right. Something didn't feel right about what I was thinking.

The fact is that this was not racist at all. No harm done. The precident was set with the Bush administration.

All the manufactured outrage over this is freaking ridiculous. And yes, it is 150% manufactured. Does anyone really care? I mean really? Who cares what features the mask accentuates? A characature takes ones features and makes them comically emphasized. It's just a presidential mask. Good thing Point Break was made twenty years ago and not now. Imagine the outrage if they'd have robbed the bank in that movie wearing Obama masks instead of Regan and Nixon masks. Oh my god how racist to do such a thing implying that Obama is a bank robbing black criminal. Gasp, faint, cry. Lighten the hell up people. A president is a public, the most public, figure who not only CAN be ridiculed but took on the weight of being undoubtedly ridiculed no matter how he is thought of. It happens constantly and we all have the right to do it, even in state sponsored events. All these public apologies and firings and talk of embarrassment over this is absurd and are quite simply the only things to actually be embarrassed and apologetic about and if the pres had any measure of thick skin he would make a quick and brief statement asking everybody to stop with the nonsense and move on to real issues. Though we all know he doesn't want to deal with those either. He thinks real issues are phony.

You should leave your side before they drag you down.

F3SS, we can all argue what "the" point is, but I think you miss, avoid or otherwise circumvent a serious issue. No president since Nixon (who deserved almost every negativity he received) was so disparaged and disrespected--in this "clown" instance with the tax dollars of the people of Missouri--on so many levels, in so many venues (birth certificate; going to a Muslim school in Indonesia, being a community organizer in Chi-town as if that were a bad thing) as Obama. In the very same decade, a joke of a president killed over 5,000 American military personnel with nothing to show for it bu quasi-civil war now in Iraq. I can speak for no others but myself. It is the hideous hypocrisy of Bush-created military and economic messes, while criticizing Obama for not yet drawing all W.'s crap out of the fire. Neither man is perfect. But the hesitant one from Texas who had to stay so close to the Rove-and-Cheney bosom to stay in power was an ineffectual milquetoast--and never was on the receiving end of the kind of mockery and antipathy that I think he so richly deserved.

Now it's constant open-season on Obama. And don't forget--his 'race' is essentially immaterial, because his mother was Kansas-bred caucasian and his father was continental African. I'm not his biggest fan, believe me. But I'll be damned if I'll treat him like a black foreigner---when he isn't--and applaud about a state fair when he is abused and debased for the titillation of the benighted masses.

The 'masses' would've only been the people in the stands if some dimwits wouldn't have made it become national news. Then we could've continued belittling the white-black messiah on real subjects.

For one, I don't see too many around here giving Bush a pass for anything. Second, there are plenty of things to criticize Obama about without having to drop to the level of the absurd.

It just seems kind of ironic that you attack those who you say are true-believers and blind when you seem to display those very same traits for Obama given that you, for really no good reason, completely derailed a thread about overreaction to political satire by accusing everyone in it of being Bush sycophants and turning it into a Bush bash.

Gotta lighten up brah and enjoy good political humor even when it's directed at your candidate. Now where did I put my Nixon mask?

There are several explanations, only some of which I can speculate about, as to why some of you don't see the obvious.

The first which comes to mind is that you hate the current President, for whatever set of reasons, so much as to not care what is said about him nor in what manner. The comparison to Bush is offered by me only because some of you would react vehemently were similar things said/done regarding him. Name what it was, how it was said, and then Bush's responses, "Aw, shucks, nothin' ta worry 'bout here."

The second which comes to mind is a reverse sense of envy, since Obama did what Bush said he would do, and did not, and eliminated Bin Laden.

The third is that some of you may be so young as to not have lived through 9/11 and its aftermath as adults, or even teenagers. Had you done so, you would see through Bush's impotent response to Al Qaeda, lies about Iraq, lack of success in Afghanistan, and would realize the less militaristic president has, so far accomplished more.

It's also possible that the very nature of American politics is such these days that differing voices are hounded, mocked and ejected.

And there may be dozens, if not hundreds more explanations. To state that Bush was vilified as equally as is Obama is a lie. That was your collective response to this thread, I didn't bring it up--see posts 7 & 8--for you who are citing my posts about Bush and dangling Grover Cleveland, or any other former president out there. I did not bring it up. Your collective inconsistencies and snap responses are to blame.

Man it's open season because he is the current president. That is all. Plain and simple. I think he sucks but in a hundred years I'm sure he'll manage to pull a Grover on us. It won't last forever.

Like the lady said in the Fox News video, I don't think Obama would care about this clown rodeo at all.. I personally don't see why he should or anyone for that matter... Someone farting around acting the wag looking attention? It happens.

They don't understand humor, dude.

"They." That says a lot. "They." "We." "Us." "Them." Excellent, but unnecessary, presumptive divisiveness.

I seem to recall quite a few Bush masks used in disparaging ways when he was in office... That seemed okay...

I don't like those masks at all, they are freaky... They remind me of the spitting image puppets..Have you ever seen them?

No, but I'm 'torqued' that several people think it's a non-issue. If so, whypost it or comment on it, then, if it's garbage. There's no unanimity of understanding about this sophomoric clown act. I'm concerned only because it is so blithely dismissed, like an errant pebble dinging your windshield on the interstate: Someone was careless, and caused needless damage, but--so what? And there's no comparison with "funnies" that were directed towards George W. 'back in the day' (see posts 7 & 8, I didn't raise that issue).

It is also absurd, unless some of you are omniscient, to assume you know my political interests, and without knowledge use juvenile terms like "lib." It's very unbecoming in open and equal conversation.
