Talon Posted October 20, 2004 #1 Share Posted October 20, 2004 'Eight dead' after US plane crash A commuter plane has crashed as it approached a Missouri airport, killing at least eight people on board. The plane, a medium-sized turboprop affiliated to American Airlines, crashed in woods near Kirksville, in north-east Missouri, officials said. Police say two survivors were taken to hospital. Five passengers are missing. Conditions at the time of the crash were overcast with mist and some thunderstorms in the area, weather officials said. The plane, Corporate Airlines Flight 5966, was on a regular route from St Louis when it crashed shortly after 7.50pm local time, Adair County Chief Deputy Larry Logston told the Associated Press. Corporate Airlines, based in Smyrna, Tennessee, began operating in 1996 and is affiliated to American Airlines, AP reported. As American Connection, Corporate provides 70 flights from 13 cities in the Midwest to St Louis and Nashville.
