What Evidence do I Need?

zoser

Recommended Posts

I did plan to delay this thread for a few days but the issue keeps rising in other threads.

Whether you are a full believer, on the fence, or skeptical about ET UFO's and visitations, this is an opportunity for users to say what they feel would constitute a convincing case.

Hopefully it will bridge the gulf between believers and skeptics, and lead to a greater understanding, but we will see.

For me, the wide variety of sightings over the last 70 or so years in different nations and reported by different people provides the evidence; it being that there are I feel collaborating details between them.

That however is clearly not sufficient for some. So I look forward to hearing what others have to say.

People could talk in general terms or relate to specific cases by saying what is lacking to make that case convincing as they wish.

I would be convinced of ET if I was able to observe the entities themselves. Nothing less would suffice, imo.

OK. Would you necessarily be convinced that you were looking at ET?

Many witnesses describe humanoids like us with perhaps tighter clothing and different hairstyles.

Do you mean that you would have to be looking at 'Gray Types'

To be honest here, zoser, we all know it doesnt take much to convince you that aliens are here. It seems to me that every picture, every story, and every youtube video that is somewhat unexplained is proof of ET visitation to you.

It seems to me that if a scientist or those skeptical to the ETH cant think of / prove the opposite - that is all the evidence you need.

This is why we make fun of you. This is why no one here is taking you seriously anymore..... if there ever was a time? You are the last thing UFOlogy need at this point in time..... You are doing more damge to UFOology that any of the skeptics I know. If I didnt know better Id say you where a plant, a disinformation specialist, put here to discredit / make UFOology look even sillier that it did before you entered the stage.

As for what evidence I would need..... Hard peer reviewed scientific evidence that points to ET only.

Don't make it personal.

State what would convince you.

Considering the species variety we have on this planet, I'd highly doubt that a species that evolved in a completely different section of the universe would be so similar to us. In all honesty, if extraterrestrials truly look like this I'd probablt accuse them of being part of a no budget scifi movie.

Press release from NASA (on their official website and on mainstream media) stating that scientists had made official contact with extraterrestrial beings from "____" (insert location). Photos and details following on the 11:00 News would seal the deal for me.

This seems to imply that you are waiting for someone else to confirm to you that they are real.

Like Neil DeGrasse Tyson or Michael Shermer? If they gave you the green light would you then believe?

Pretty much sums it up for me, too

I just did.

An alien craft or their occupants would do just fine. An alien artifact examined by real scientists, like they did with the moon rocks.... and in the end there is no doubt that ET exists and was/is here visiting.

I just think its unfortunate that you are saturating this topic with your drivel.

If any encounter I had was with entities which looked as much like us as those described by those you mention, I would immediately be suspicious of a hoax, and further physical evidence of their alien nature would be required.

Likewise, I would be suspicious of an encounter with an entity which closely resembled one of the "pop culture" ET's.

I would probably insist on a medical examination (justice for all their probing!) to provide evidence of their alien nature.

Anecdotal accounts do not qualify as evidence.

Yes....I want the world wide scientific comunity to tell me that this is real. I want this to be taught in schools all over the world.... then I will KNOW its real.

How would you know they are real? Please define your criteria.

Why drivel? This has been one of the central areas of conflict on this forum for some considerable time.

You cannot take it for granted that you or anyone else has a reasonable criteria.

How to harm ufology:

1. Provide creepy pasta and claim that's real.

2. Provide fake, blurry, low resolution pictures and videos and claim they are real.

3. Believe any wacko that tells a story related with aliens and claim it's real evidence.

4. Do not believe in the scientific method.

5. Discard other theories but UFO.

Your saying that they need to be alive and in front of you. Touch them, communicate with them.....etc. Could you still actually be sure they were real, not some elaborately staged act?

So what would make you believe?

Can't quite say what would do it, but the species being non humanoid in configuration would do wonders.

So you would need it to be embedded as an excepted cultural norm.

Like Christmas and the birth of JC? (That's not Jesse Custer btw).

Might someone come along and say 'There all lying and we are being indoctrinated with false information'?

Yeah, even if I saw them I'd still kinda want ET contact to be officially corroborated. I mean, somebody could have slipped some LSD into your cocoa or something.

Isn't this still taking things on faith? Things can be faked on the news.

Does really it come down in the end to who one trusts?

There will always be people that dont believe in the facts. Like with the moonlandings back in the days. Im sure you heard about those guys. And sure, Im perfectly able to change my mind... all it takes is solid undisputable evidence to the contrary of what I believe.

Can you say the same?

Yes.... all it would take is a TV crew and good special effects, smoke lasers, or like you said drugs slipped in your food/drink, fatigue, lack of oxygen to the brain.... etc,.. etc... The human mind is perfectly capable to fool us all, TWISE.

You asked what it would take.... now you have my answer.

I guess then it's all a matter of what one chooses to trust. I choose a press release from NASA, public disclosure of ET from the government, and open press coverage of diplomatic contact with the ETs. This would pretty much convince me.
