cacoseraph Posted August 27, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 27, 2013 A pony was found dead and missing body parts. Speculation of a religious motivation was in the media. Turns out the pony died of natural causes and had just been eaten by scavengers. This is probably the explanation for many supposed cryptid killings, too. A pony found in Dartmoor, England, in July apparently died under mysterious and horrific circumstances: It had been mutilated, and several of its organs were missing, which fueled speculation that it was killed in some sort of satanic or pagan ritual sacrifice. http://www.livescien...pony-found.html

Sir Wearer of Hats Posted August 27, 2013 #7 Share Posted August 27, 2013 Why? Did they eat all your apples or something? Well they're on the list (and probably #1) of animals that have taken their pound of flesh out of Sir WoH.

Rafterman Posted August 28, 2013 #11 Share Posted August 28, 2013 Caco, I'm glad you posted this. I had seen it over the weekend and forgot about it. It's the perfect example of how even the "experts" are fooled (I'm being generous here) by simple animal predation. We see this all the time with cattle mutilations, chupacabra, etc. All of these "unexplained" deaths have very mundane explanations if you're willing to see them.

keninsc Posted August 28, 2013 #13 Share Posted August 28, 2013 Well, tushy kicking aside, the truth is the vast majority of people have no clue what a carnorvarized carcass actually looks like. Mainly due to their only experience being watch lions in Africa devour a large beast like a zebra. Truth is very often the soft jowls are eaten first and most will enter the abdominal cavity via the area of the genitals. The organs are usually the first thing eaten.
