Taun-i belive your are right about "coppers"

But cop used to be an important post before it was bastardized - it was for Chief Of Police - criminals thought it insulting to call police cops

I think it's kinda like how some Old enlisted soldiers get if called sir-you've heard 'em i worked for a living OR my parents were married....

Since cats are popular subject here: my little calico had four kittens the other day. She chose to have them in a little crawl space just at the head of my bed. I'm kinda flattered that she trusts me so much.

Hardly anybody knows that "Fluffy" always had her kittens in Dad's sock drawer . After the first time , when the drawer just happened to be open, she'd make a fuss till Ma would give in .

The chances that anyone has ever shuffled a pack of cards in the same way twice in the history of the world are statistically negligible.

As of 2014, the American Department of Veterans Affairs is still paying a Civil War pension.

The last surviving child of a Union Veteran still receives a small, monthly pension payment 149 years after the Civil War ended.

On nature Doc, they said the only thing that would stop African ants was fire.

Also, ants are the only other animal besides humans that keep herds of other animals, (mealy bugs and aphids) and they know beforehand when it's going to rain, and carry their 'livestock' to cover before it does!!

A BIT OF HISTORY I DIDN'T KNOW...Plz click links for pics.

Hours after Pearl Harbor was bombed on December 7, 1941, the Secret Service found themselves in a bind. President Franklin D. Roosevelt was to give his Day of Infamy speech to Congress on Tuesday, and although the trip from the White House to Capitol Hill was short, agents weren't sure how to transport him safely.

At the time, Federal Law prohibited buying any cars that cost more than $750, so they would have to get clearance from Congress to do that, and nobody had time for that. One of the Secret Service members, however, discovered that the US Treasury had seized the bulletproof car that mobster Al Capone owned when he was sent to jail in 1931. They cleaned it, made sure it was running perfectly and had it ready for the President the next day.

Mechanics are said to have cleaned and checked each feature of the Caddy well into the night of December 7th, to make sure that it would run properly the next day for the Commander in Chief. And run properly it did. It had been painted black and green to look identical to Chicago's police cars at the time. To top it off, the gangster's 1928 Cadillac Town Sedan had 3,000 pounds of armor and inch-thick bulletproof windows.

It also had a specially installed siren and flashing lights hidden behind the grille, along with a police scanner radio.

The Amazon Basin can receive over 3 meters, (nearly 10 feet!) of rain in a yr.

At peak flood stage the Amazon River banks can widen up to 10 miles......either side, and cover what was dry land and forest in over 10 meters of water.

Somebody poured over a lot of numbers to find that one. Goes to show seek and you will find, even though what you find doesn't mean anything.

The Wooley Bear caterpillar can live up to 7 yrs, longer than any other. They live above the Arctic Circle and survive thru winters w/ temps that can drop to minus 100 F, and for 5 months the temp doesn't rise above minus 20 F.

While hibernating, their heart actually stops, and have 'anti-freeze' in their blood.

During the Space Shuttle program there were approx 75 emergency landing sites for the Shuttles around the globe and some

of these are commercial airports like Cologne/Germany, Arlanda-Stockholm/Sweden and JFK-NY/USA. The ultimate wet dream

for all plane spotters!
