spud the mackem Posted September 24, 2013 #151 Share Posted September 24, 2013 Stuart Townsend was originally slated to play the role of Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings trilogy. He was let go a day before shooting and Viggo Mortensen brought it four days after shooting began. And I like to chalk that one up to divine intervention! A lot of the background mountain scenery was filmed in Switzerland.

Technocrat Posted September 25, 2013 #154 Share Posted September 25, 2013 All seasons are beautiful to my eyes, Autumn is gorgeous, with all the fiery colours of the forest and winter is cozy, indoors, talking to the people close to you, watching good movies, reading good books, Christmas and mulled wine.....how can that be terrible? You have a beautiful way of seeing God's creation and I admire you for that. However, winter is a very difficult time for some people. With the escalating cost of home heating there are those less well off who have to strike a careful balance between eating and heating and where I live this has been a big issue over the last few years, especially with those rearing young families. There are also those who, due to the short amount of daylight, suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder which I have experienced myself and which can be difficult to cope with. Also, I always feel sorry for our resident wildlife, especially birds as there are so many of them, that have to struggle to find food in order to survive. So I hope I have made it clear why I don't like winter at all and I'm sure there are many people who would be in agreement.

spacecowboy342 Posted October 8, 2013 #165 Share Posted October 8, 2013 Yeah? Where? The closest observed by astronomers (this one smaller than Jupiter by quite a bit, only 4000 km in diameter) is about 50 light years away in the constellation of Centaurus. It has been estimated to be a billion trillion trillion carats. It is the remains of the core of a dead white dwarf star. Astronomers named it Lucy (as in the Sky with Diamonds)

Keel M. Posted October 9, 2013 #167 Share Posted October 9, 2013 In the United States, June is the most popular month for weddings, followed by August. I would like to add also that special/"cool" dates are also very popular: back in '06, June 6th was super popular. November 12th this year will be popular too.
