Still Waters Posted September 5, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 5, 2013 Since I can remember, I’ve heard stories of people finding pennies in strange places after the passing of a loved one. I wasn’t sure if seeing these tiny copper coins laying around was just coincidence, or if there could be a connection to the spirit world. It has long been believed by many that found pennies are signs from lost loved ones or angels — something to tell you that you are not alone. http://www.nj.com/in...rom_heaven.html

Purple Octopus Posted September 5, 2013 #3 Share Posted September 5, 2013 Ghosts are cheap b*stards, aren't they? Why couldn't they leave quarters or pound coins?
Still Waters Posted September 9, 2013 Author #4 Share Posted September 9, 2013 bad news article, the author shows wishful thinking It's not a 'news' article. So, I decided to consult the Google search bar and actually found out why pennies could be the calling card for our departed. I was wondering if the concept of the deceased leaving pennies for their loved ones has any connection with loved ones leaving pennies on markers/gravestones of their deceased. The opposite side of the coin if you like (no pun intended). If people believe one thing then it's possible they believe in the other too. http://wiki.answers...._on_gravestones I didn't know people did this until I read about it last night. Another thing people used to do (which I have heard of before) was to cover the deceased person's eyes with coins. http://wiki.answers....rson's_eyes It seems pennies/coins feature quite a lot in relation to the deceased. skydivingstars Posted September 10, 2013 #5 Share Posted September 10, 2013 Oh, thanks for this uplifting topic. I'm already broke now...apparently it won't be better in the afterlife, either? On another note, that's a cute idea that people who pass leave them for their loved ones. As much as I hate to burst any happy bubbles, I think there might just be an overabundance of pennies in this world.
coldethyl Posted September 12, 2013 #6 Share Posted September 12, 2013 I've got tons of pennies in my bedroom floor, but I think it's more likely that my husband doesn't use them and them and they fall out of his pants when he takes them of and tosses them into the clothes basket to be washed and I don't vacuum enough.

The coins come from the old world, to pay the boatman to ferry your soul to it's final place.
