Australian Election 2013

What's everyone thinking about this election? It has been a bit of a messy lead in.

Clive Palmer has been impressing me the last few months. I just don't trust Labor or The Liberals. As soon as the election comes close they spew out their 'promises' and turn into robots.

Palmer is the only candidate I feel that tells it as it is. He may be a bit eccentric sometimes though haha.

Especially here:

By the way for people that may not know, Clive Palmer is the multi-millionaire that is building the Titanic II and building an animatronic dinosaur park.

I'll be voting Labor because I cannot trust Tony Abbott - and I would not want him being the face of Australia.

I do love dinosaurs, but Clive Palmer is a businessman and I feel like it's just a passing interest for him because he can. If he's still in the run next time then I might give him some more time.

Oh and for some real entertainment at the polling booths - or just to annoy the volunteer counters and everyone in the queue waiting for your place in the voting booth.

Do be sure to mark you ballot paper from 1 to 70 consecutively in order of your preference, rather than just placing a 1 on your fave pick as most folk do.

If you make a mistake in your counting, do ask for a replacement ballot paper and why you need it - the expression on their face is such a joy :P (and gets even more entertaining if you repeat this a couple of times).

There might a a great selection but it's a poor selection as far as quality goes, especially including the major parties. I feel it's going to be a case of eenie meenie miney mo all the way to the booth.

I agree on Tony Abbott but the instability of Labour is a worry too. Abbott's done a lot of debunking Labour policies up to now but hasn't really convinced me how Australians (all Australians) are going to benefit if we vote for him. I rather the devil you know..

Millionaire running Parliament? Hmmmm

There are some minor parties that are only pushing one reasonable policy. The major parties have abysmal policies.

Based on the waffle from the campaign - tonnes is going to change.

My personal bugbears being 1/4 of schools being turned independent (ie abandoned to the wolves), 7% of the nation's teachers sacked because they're "not performing" and his comments about that silly fad of "marriage equality".

I worded my sentence wrong. I meant to say they'll do their usual 'promise all, give few' approach. As they always do.

Unfortunately the bad points brought up about a party usually come true, where as their good points are rarely spoken of again.

The pushing of a faster broadband, aimed directly at the younger voters, not the small business people at all.

I loved the party at labour HQ the slug was like some european dictator coming home after a great win somewhere? WTF...

Electoral parties seem to be like athletic teams; fans chose one or another for some of the strangest reasons.

Abbottband isn't going to be faster, it's going to be "faster to the hub" and then "slower to the home".

" “While I think men and women are equal, they are also different and I think it's inevitable and I don't think it's a bad thing at all that we always have, say, more women doing things like physiotherapy and an enormous number of women simply doing housework."

~ Tony Abbot, 2010.

Well, it is said that, when he was starting in politics as a youngster, one of his role models was Benito Mussolini. So, to answer your question I would say YES.

I suppose that means he'll come in when he thinks it's all over, then.
