Map on Stone?

Ok, humor me here.

I’ve recently been reading about Ancient people in North America chipping out maps on large stones.

There’s this boulder, about 5 feet tall, in a woods I regularly hike.

The boulder is 10 yards from an ancient Native American grinding stone, and 200 yards from a good-sized brook. This brook empties into a pond 3 miles away, and I see the shape of the pond pecked into the boulder.

Anyone see that?

Could be. You mentioned that these areas were known and had been studied previously. Have you tried to connect to anyone that has researched this area?

Interesting.Thanks for sharing.

I wonder that it's a tribute to the sacredness of the pond? Not perfect, but it sure looks like the Pond to me.

Strange, any other markings on the rock besides the pond?

No I haven't spoken to anyone, at least about this.

There is one dude I know who knows the area and would probably have an opinion.

Thanks for the suggestion.

There are many man-made stone 'things' in these woods: A turtle, a seat facing east, several grinding stones, some piles which look ceremonial.

There's a lot of power out there.

I'll be heading out to that area within the hour and will look for other markings.

There are a couple of round circles which you can see in the photo, but those are some kind of mold or lichen or something.

It looks too inaccurate to be a purposeful marking. Eg. The orientation of the main island is way off and the smaller islands are not included.

Most likely a natural coincidence IMO.
