Ealdwita Posted September 23, 2013 #4 Share Posted September 23, 2013 This is cool and all but what about it is paranormal? Not a lot, but throughout history the blacksmith has been elevated to an almost priestlike position. Many belief systems contain at least one blacksmith....Tvastar of the Hindus, Vulcan of the Romans, Anglo-Saxons' Wayland and the Norse Volunder, and so on. The act of turning a lump of brown rock into a beautiful, pattern-welded seax for example, seemed like magic to the layman. Especially as the four elements - earth, air fire and water, were all employed in the transition. Ealdwita snippet alert..... In the Middle Ages, some areas banned blacksmithing as a black art and anyone found practising it could be put to death. It has been suggested that this is where stories of the Devil burning in Hell originate from.

HeathenRoyalty Posted September 29, 2013 #6 Share Posted September 29, 2013 That would have sucked to put to death for being a smithy.
