A Berlin court has sentenced a Dutchman to community service for tricking officials into thinking he had lived in a forest for years with his father.

Robin van Helsum, now 21, was accused of wrongfully claiming help from Berlin youth services for months after turning up in the German capital two years ago.

He admitted making up a story that his parents were dead and he did not know who he was or where he was from.

Well, I guess he didn't know that his made-up story would fly around the news and internet enough for his friends back home to "turn him in"

Keep it simple, stupid.

Imagine that. I guess he figured that everyone else (besides himself) was a complete and total fool, and would never do anything crazy like check out the validity of his claims. I guess shame on us for not letting him live his lie. JACKASS.

Arthur Conan Doyle stated "Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth." Which yields the corollary ... the obvious.
