Alien DNA could be 'recreated' on earth

Dr Craig Venter, who helped map the human genome, created the world's first synthetic lifeform, using chemicals and inserting DNA into the cell of a bacteria.

He believes scientists will soon be to do the same, designing basic organisms to include features useful in farming or medicine, as well as sending robots into space to read the sequence of alien life forms and replicate them back on Earth.

Uhhh, well, the first and most obvious question is: do we HAVE any alien DNA to print? Do we have ANY solid concrete evidence of alien life outside the earth at all?

And second, if we did, would that really be a good idea?

I think any further development(years away I'm sure) should be kept secret and secure.

Scary to think about what could happen in the wrong hands with twisted minds.

How do we dare even imagine that aliens evolved with DNA? That's a late stage in the evolution of life that no doubt has many alternative ways to work. Also, DNA is not enough to make a living organism. You also need mitochondria and who-knows what else.
