Well that's just ridiculous for godsakes!

He should of used a power saw for that. Much quicker.

Poor man.

You'd have to be VERY desperate in order to do something this drastic.

Sadly this sort of thing happens everywhere, not just China. Even if you have the money is no guarantee you'll get the help you need.

Sadly many who read the article submit responses trying to use this as a way to justify this "ObamaCare" thing.

Anyways now the poor man has problems with his other leg. He'll probably do the same thing again.

Yeah that's what's really sad about this story and he lost some teeth in the whole process of removing the other leg. But reading about the other leg makes his story even more depressing.

Yeah, when I read about the teeth thing I winced.

He had to have been really chomping down on that wood to do that; the pain he went through is something I cannot even begin to imagine.

Desperate people can sometimes do extreme things.

The coverage of the story, which has only recently emerged in the Chinese media, prompted a doctor in Shanghai to offer his services for free.

Zhang Qiang, from the Shanghai Wode Medical Centre, said he was prepared to cover all the costs for further treatment.

Thank goodness for that. Nobody should have to resort to what that guy went through, that was awful.
