All things such as this are good news to the UFO enthusiast! :tu:

Incidentally...Peru was the location of what must be considered as imho..one of the very best [and convincing] UFO/ET events of all time! 'The Oscar Huertas' dogfight .of 1980....

Some people think UFO=ET when it really means unidentified flying object.

Give that, I suspect Peru is more interested in curbing their growing drug trafficking industry than hunting down little green men. Drug cartels have enough money to buy attack and surveillance drones. Peru is probably just looking to protect itself from attacks and reprisals from within.

Just read another report on this story, turns out there has been a pretty big increase in sightings over Peru and South America is considered to be a ufo hotspot.

They are not opening a new department, they are reopening the old one. The old one lasted from 2001 to 2005. The goal sounds closer to that of NARCAP as opposed to the woo woo sources like MUFON in that they wish to identify lights that interfere with aviation. Not quite searching for little green men.
