Well, it was all going well until I read;- "One piece of gear the team uses is a ‘spirit box,’ an electronic device about the size of a pack of cigarettes, to rapidly scan AM and FM radio bands, Flynn said."

Then I thought 'oh well'. I'd rather they use a 'Jacob's Ladder' then a 'spirit box'.
