+joc Posted November 25, 2013 #51 Share Posted November 25, 2013 Wow Nice! You know, The Insurance Companies have no choice but to drop the Employer Backed Health Plans as well. It is the law. These current plans would have already been cancelled except for the fact that they were given an additional year. In 2014, they will be dropped faster than Chucky can say Cheese. That is a fact. The question therefore is...what will happen then? The scenarios are thus: 1. Employer pays the additional cost and the employee also pays additional costs. 2. Employer does nothing because the company thinks the price is to high and drops employee coverage altogether. 3. Employer pays the additional cost and lays off many employees to reduce the cost of the new health coverage. 4. Employer pays the additional cost and increases the price of the goods or services sold to make up for the short fall.

Michelle Posted November 26, 2013 #53 Share Posted November 26, 2013 no duh. If a corporation dropped employer sponsored health care coverage, not only would the employees be "pretty unhappy", I suspect they would LEAVE for jobs elsewhere. And the society at large would treat them as a pariah company. Which is why this won't happen. Not really. Years ago many jobs came with company cars as a perk and lots of people did leave their jobs for greener pastures when the cars were being phased out. Now, so few jobs offer them it isn't even brought to the table for consideration. It'll be the same with health insurance.
