A rather obscure Bassoon Posted December 12, 2013 #4 Share Posted December 12, 2013 A good purge was always on the cards, wonder how many top ranking military officers have had a midnight visit. Young Kim needs to be sorted out,and there will be a lot of trouble down the line if he isn't.
seaturtlehorsesnake Posted December 12, 2013 #5 Share Posted December 12, 2013 huh. i wonder, has there ever been a korean language edition of darkness at noon?
Likely Guy Posted December 13, 2013 #6 Share Posted December 13, 2013 Ironic that his uncle was accused of corruption and executed within days. Young Kim is not corrupt! Nooo.
Frank Merton Posted December 13, 2013 #7 Share Posted December 13, 2013 Sounds like there was an assassination attempt or it would not have been treated so severely.
Likely Guy Posted December 13, 2013 #8 Share Posted December 13, 2013 (edited) Sounds like there was an assassination attempt or it would not have been treated so severely. His uncle helped put him in power. He killed his ex-girlfriend a while ago (for being his ex-girlfriend) and eighty odd other people for listening to foreign broadcasts (as well as other heinous crimes). No, he's a tyrannical homocidal crackpot (in my opinion). Edited December 13, 2013 by Likely Guy

Likely Guy Posted December 13, 2013 #10 Share Posted December 13, 2013 Quite so his uncle tried to get him first but failed. But his uncle was formative in putting Young Kim in power wasn't he? Then again, Stalin 'wigged out' as well and killed most of his early supporters too.
Space Commander Travis Posted December 13, 2013 #11 Share Posted December 13, 2013 (edited) Standard procedure for any Dictator. Those that had the influence to put you in power could easily use their influence to get you out of power if they wanted to, so obviously you're going to soon make sure they're out of the way. See night of the long Knives, Stalin's purges, Obama's ... oh, he hasn't got to that yet has he. Stick around though, he will soon, you'll see. Problem is you would be replacing one dictator with another, the whole lot needs clearing out. There is always hope, the wall came down in Europe after all. This regime is probably the biggest threat to peace since the cold war. Edited December 13, 2013 by shaddow134

Shiloh17 Posted December 15, 2013 #16 Share Posted December 15, 2013 When a nation threatens a nuclear strike on another nation, that has to be taken seriously. That's just something you don't joke about, or say, to show you mean business. Of course if that happened that would be the end of North Korea, in my opinion. So many forces would descend on that nation destroying its military, and ensuring that "leader" is taken out of power. If he has threatened a superpower, he's a threat to all. That's my two cents.
