The genocide seems to be always forgotten and only single murder mysteries are remembered. Lets remember the following then!

For decades, Moscow had blamed the Nazis for the massacre, but then in 1990 admitted that Stalin had ordered it. The massacre further embittered Poland’s relations with Moscow, which has refused to consider the massacre a genocide and has been reluctant to prosecute any living henchmen.

The sworn deposition provides evidence of Soviet responsibility for the 1940 massacre of some 22,000 Polish officers in the Katyn forest and other places in what was then the Soviet Union. The Soviet Red Army had taken the Polish officers prisoner after invading eastern Poland in September 1939.

Another report that Van Vliet made a few days later in Washington is considered missing. This has fuelled speculation that the U.S. government helped cover up Soviet responsibility for the massacre out of fear that saying the truth would anger Stalin, whom the Allies were counting on to help them defeat Germany and Japan in World War II.

The nazis always said Stalin killed these men and they were right. Most people are totally unaware of this.Not something they bother to teach in school.

Roosevelt was of course snookered by Stalin but there is still the fact that at that time the Allies could not take on the Russians also. Later, during the Cold War, my mom always talked about the brain washing that went on during WWII in respect to the Russians. She said that you couldn't go to a movie without sitting through a news clip showing the poor, struggling, heroic Russian people. Then after the war, wham it all changed.

I also knew a family here in the US whose father had immigrated from Poland after the way. He had been a teenager at the time but admitted he had been "forced" into some type of collaboration with the Nazis. The little girl always talked about they had to be so careful every time they would go back to Poland which at the time was still in Russian hands. They had been identified on the street one time while visiting in Poland and the entire family arrested and strip searched before they were released.

Most interesting was the fact that every time they returned from Poland, they returned substantially better off financially. Oh, he had collaborated all right and evidently for some reason could only bring so much back with him at a time.

Ive read a little on this before and its very interesting. I dont know much about the politics surrounding the situation but it sounds very much as though there was a cover up orchestrated somewhere. Its awful to think that is the true number killed.
