‘I became afraid of newspapers gradually over the past 25 years.’

She's 49.

‘When I was a child, my mother hit my father over the head with a newspaper. She did it in a playful, friendly way but it worried me,’ she said.

So, assuming by child she means 7 or 8, there are 16-17 years where she wasn't afraid of newspapers. There's a chunk of mising time here. Aliens?

The phobia must have started with her at the age of 24. Incidentally, mine is a fear of large tanks of water and I never could understand why. Having to go up into the loft of my house is a nightmare for me!

I'm not afraid of the newspaper, but the news itself. Scary.

Odd... but there are weirder fears.

A fear of balloons and houseplants are two that I read about quite recently.

right... but she's atributing it to something that happened when she was 7 ... so why didn't it manfiest until 24? ...

It is a curious thing how the mind works.

I think it would take a psychologist to explain the delay factor.

I dont read or watch the news. It depresses me. So I dont have to worry about it if I have that. I have a mild fear of wedding rings.

Mom and . Dad divorceed and remarried with both those also going down in flames. So I dont like the little metal bands that start it . All

As she looks grazy anyway, the newspaper guy had luck due to her quirk anyway.

Did you never press him on it?

Oh that is funny! And there is a serious irony there which you would easily get if you had my personal data.

She would be the perfect spokesperson for canines abused by disciplinary newspaper action.
