'Unique' WW1 ledger from Folkestone published

Relatives of more than 40,000 people who passed through Folkestone on their way to war in France between 1915 and 1919 can now search for their names.

Eight visitors books were kept at the Harbour Canteen and signed by some of the soldiers, nurses and others who passed through.

I shall have to check that out. I believe my great uncle's name may be in that ledger. He was a Major in the Royal East Kent Regiment (The Buffs), and was sent to France in June 1915.

Very cool.iam a World War One buff.i knew a WW 1 vet he was 90 when he passed in the last 80's.

Imagine finding the name of a relative in one of those book, what a feeling that would be - amazing I think :)
