I have an SUV, the back seat goes down and I put up a pet grate to keep my guys out of the front seats. My initial reason for this was fur and drool related...it now goes far beyond that!

Ha! Is this some kind of insurance scam?

The whole thing just doesn't seem credible to me.

Actually, it's quite possible. If the dogs were cavorting around in the front seats the truck could have easily been jostled from park into neutral. If there was a slight hill (and the owner didn't put on the parking break) then the game is on...the truck simply rolls away (and in this case into the river bank).

The engine does not have to be running in order for a car to move if it's in neutral.

The ten year old kid who stole his parents and aunt's vehicles finally lost his 15 minutes of fame.

The border collie was driving (a herding breed) and the labrador (a sporting retriever) had shot gun.

They're great on sheep...a truck can't be all that much different, right?

A dog can corner better...and a weeks worth of kibble is probably cheaper than a weeks worth of gas.

I know you are right on with that, I had a great German Shepard when I was younger and it was with out a doubt the smartest dog. I had to move after graduation and could not keep her but the family that took her in got one great pet....

Herding dogs are pretty much the smartest of all dog breeds. That said, you do have to keep them busy or they'll get into trouble...probably was the border collie that knocked that guy's truck out of park!

Examples of how smart they can be:

I have to put a bicycle lock on my back gate...both my dogs have learned to open the latch.

My female collie likes to collect phones...never set your cell phone down within her reach.

My male collie brings me his food dish at exactly dinner time.

Both will go and get a leash when they want to take a walk.

It's only funny because nobody, including the dogs got hurt - I lol'd.

I wonder what went through the poor dog's minds when the truck started rolling, they must have freaked out.
