Vintage Gouda may be aged for five years, some cheddar for a decade. They're both under-ripe youngsters compared with yellowish clumps – found on the necks and chests of Chinese mummies – now revealed to be the world's oldest cheese.

The headline to the right of this article reads "What's inside the Oscar Swag bag?" I think they might be hinting at some 3500 year old cheese. Don't worry Hollywood. It's Lactose-Free.

Cheese is not all that pleasant to be around when it is fresh. I can't even imagine how unpleasant it would be at 3600 years old.

I wonder if they found any crackers to go with the cheese too.

Dear China,

Please separate this cheese and disperse it evenly amongst your entire population as soon as possible.

Thank you.

I'll invite some archaeologists over to investigate my fridge. I'm fairly certain they'll find some cheese in there to beat this record.

Ha. Things grow better with age. Save for cheese, apparently.

I'm torn between calling it 'Headcheese' or 'Gamalost'. As for Limburger, nothing that hasn't already been through the digestive system should smell like that.

I'm not even gonna make a "cut the cheese" joke.

It would smell really bad.
